Though Myanmar has a devout Buddhist faith and the people are friendly, its government has a bad human rights record, even though Aung San Suu Kyi ( the power behind many government decisions) was herself imprisoned for her democratic beliefs.

If you decide to go, the capitol Yangon is your first place to visit if you are arriving by air. Yangon has several must-see monuments, the most famous being Shwedagon Paya. This is supposed to be enshrined with eight hairs of the Buddha.
